A new painless treatment for warts and verrucae (HPV)
Warts and verrucae are a very common infectious disease affecting up to 5% of adults and children at any time, and most people are affected at some stage in their lives. They are caused by Human Papilloma Virus (HPV), and are usually treated by over the counter salicylic acid preparations, and cryotherapy or freeze applications, or in Dermatology clinics with liquid nitrogen freezing. These treatments are very painful to use and are of limited success because each wart lesion has to repeatedly treated and the resulting damage to the surrounding skin frequently causes the treatment to be stopped before it has been effective.
These photos are a preliminary study of a new, painless, herbal treatment for warts and verrucae, identified, researched, and developed by Kensington Herbal Ltd, a herbal biotech company researching dietary plants for organic antibiotic properties. Herbs used are dietary, non-allergenic, and not mixed with chemical additives, pharmaceuticals, or preservatives. The extract is applied with a small stick twice daily for four days after gentle abrasion, and, in cases where there are multiple lesions, only one wart or verruca is treated so that any effect on the treated and the non-treated lesions can be observed at a follow up appointment. There is no burning or freezing and no users have reported any discomfort or skin reaction. The treatment can be used at home without supervision. The treatment has not yet been tested in cases of genital warts, but these are caused by the same virus and are not protected by a thick layer of keratinized skin. The cream has been tested in sensitive areas and causes no discomfort or skin reaction.
An interesting phenomenon has been observed in cases where there are multiple lesions. The treated lesion resolves painlessly within four weeks, and all the untreated lesions resolve four to eight weeks later, showing no signs of recurrence. See Promoted Autoimmunization . It is not known what mediates this process, but it may be conjectured that the immune system in some way becomes alerted to the presence of the viral antigen in the treated lesion as a result of the plant extract. It is also of interest that in some cases a treated wart can disappear in as little as 6 days. This would appear to be insufficient time for the immune system to have removed it, strongly suggesting that the extract has a direct antiviral action.
It is hoped that this site will promote further interest in the subject, and that further scientific research will be funded both for clinical and for laboratory studies.

All the photos have been cropped and enlarged to show the lesions without identifying features except when facial lesions have been shown.
